Marvel Wanted To Replace Jonathan Majors' Kang With Doctor Doom

 Kang With Doctor Doom

According to a recent article from Variety, Marvel Studios executives gathered in Palm Springs in September 2023. During this gathering, the executives engaged in discussions regarding the future of Kang the Conqueror, a character who was initially intended to be the primary antagonist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, due to Jonathan Majors' ongoing legal situation and impending trial for domestic violence charges, uncertainty surrounds the trajectory of Kang's involvement.

Variety's article reveals that the executives have contemplated a shift away from Majors' portrayal of Kang in the upcoming phase of the MCU. Instead, they are considering focusing on Doctor Doom, a notorious villain from the Fantastic Four franchise.
Nevertheless, this proposed idea presents challenges as Majors' rendition of the character has already been introduced and established in the Loki television series and the upcoming film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, set to release in 2023. Additionally, Majors is slated to assume the role of the primary antagonist in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, scheduled for release in 2026.
One prominent industry insider, who has had the privilege of viewing the conclusive episode of "Loki," expresses concern over Marvel's predicament with the introduction of Kang. “Marvel is truly f--ked with the whole Kang angle and they haven’t had an opportunity to rewrite until very recently [because of the WGA strike]. But I don’t see a path to how they move forward with him.”
