Legend of the White Dragon is an upcoming science-fiction movie that’s been repeatedly delayed for several reasons, but the fan-funded Power Rangers spinoff is officially confirmed to be going ahead and has even been given a final release date. The film tells the story of Erik Reed, the White Dragon, who returns home from a deadly battle to protect his wife and daughter from an otherworldly threat. It’s said to be a more mature take on the Power Rangers franchise, starring the late Jason David Frank in his final on-screen performance.
The first trailer for Legend of the White Dragon was released back in 2020, with plenty more footage being released as the production process went on. Interestingly, Legend of the White Dragon was funded and campaigned through the crowdfunding site Kickstarter, with over 5,000 backers pledging upwards of $500,000 toward the project (via Kickstarter). This proves just how highly anticipated the project has become, with Power Rangers fans donating their own money to see this new vision of the franchise.
Legend Of The White Dragon Has A Planned 2023 Release Date
Before that Instagram announcement, the film had already been delayed several times, with the latest coming as a result of Jason David Frank’s death. In spite of his absence, the production team decided to continue with the project in his honor and release the film for all the fans who contributed to it. Legend of the White Dragon now has an official release date of September 4, 2023.
