The ring fourth film in the series is in the works.

It’s been quite some time since we’ve had any movement from The Ring’s American reboot series, but that could be about to change.

According to a reliable source, a fourth film in the series is in the works.

Said to focus on Samara Morgan’s vengeful spirit now inhabiting a viral video, the project will come to us via Paramount+.

This tracks with news that surfaced in 2021, when Paramount expressed their interest in continuing the series as a streaming original.

Allegedly operating under the working title Dial Tone, the project is said to have cast burgeoning Scream Queen Maika Monroe to star. Monroe is best known for leading 2014’s It Follows, and has recently garnered much acclaim starring opposite Nicolas Cage in Longlegs.

Further rumours suggest there is interest in making this fourth entry a legacy sequel to the 2002 remake and its sequel. Paramount are reportedly eager to have Naomi Watts return to the role of Rachel Keller.

However, it is unknown how this will fit into the story, or if Watts will even agree to the project, given her Hollywood status.

So, although no official word has been given, it looks as though Samara Morgan will be back to terrify us once more. We’ll keep an eye on this tip and report any further info.
