The new "How to Train Your Dragon" live-action film coming out in 2025 has caused quite a stir on social media.
That's because some fans believe that actress Nico Parker – from "The Last of Us," "Dumbo" and "Reminiscence" – is not a good pick to play the blond main character Astrid after Universal Pictures released a first look.
Some say it's due to her dark hair color while others have gone as far as picking apart her race and ethnicity. Perhaps surprising to some people, Parker in fact has a European background.

Nico Parker is the daughter of actress Thandiwe Newton and director Ol Parker. Newton was born and raised in England and is the daughter of a Zimbabwean mother from the Shona tribe and a British father. Parker also was born and raised in England and has British and Spanish heritage.
Is Nico Parker Scandinavian?
Both of Nico Parker's parents have European heritage but it's not publicly known if she has Scandinavian heritage.
