Filmax Brings Spanish Horror Pic ‘The Hanged Woman’ to the EFM (EXCLUSIVE)

Spanish sales company Filmax has secured international rights to “The Hanged Woman,” the latest film from director Miguel Ángel Lamata.

Known for films such as “Our Lovers” and “The Footballest,” Lamata ventures into the highly sought-after horror genre with this adaptation of Mayte Navales’ popular thriller novel. The story revolves around a woman who takes her own life in the garden of her former lover, to then later haunt him and his family as a ghost. The film promises a blend of classic horror elements and psychological thrills, drawing inspiration from modern classics like “The Sixth Sense” and “The Hand that Rocks the Cradle.”

The film’s cast features Eduardo Noriega, Amaia Salamanca, Norma Ruiz and Cosette Silguero. Produced by Lamata, Marta Esteban, and Raúl García Medrano, “The Hanged Woman” is a co-production between Bemybaby Films and Imposible Films, with support from ICAA, TVE and Aragón Televisión. Filmax is sharing a promo of “The Hanged Woman” with buyers at the EFM, where it will be showcased to international buyers eager for a fresh genre title.
