Marvel Has An Answer For David Corenswet’s Superman And He Will Be More Powerful Than Thor, As Per Insider Report

Legions of fans are excited for David Corenswet’s highly anticipated portrayal of Superman in James Gunn’s upcoming movie, and many would wonder what Marvel Studios has got that can be of match to the Last Son of Krypton. An industry insider revealed it’s going to be Sentry from Thunderbolts*.

If this is the case, then fans will be looking forward to the film. Also described as more powerful than Thor or even Captain Marvel, Sentry is definitely a new MCU character to watch out for.

Thunderbolts*’s Sentry Is Rumored To Be As Powerful As Superman

In response to a Twitter post, popular scooper DanielRPK revealed that Sentry will be the MCU’s counterpart of Superman. “He’s Superman level strong,” he would reply to a fan.

In another post, the insider shared “there’s a good explanation why he doesn’t kill them. The Sentry in the movie has a no-kill rule. So instead he just kick their asses” in response to a netizen who assumed Sentry will just “obliterate them all” in Thunderbolts*.

Marvel.com states that Sentry possesses “remarkable levels of superhuman strength, speed, and intelligence, as well as invulnerability, enhanced senses, energy-projection abilities, and the power of flight.”

All of these are fueled by absorbing solar radiation and of course, depending on his mental state. He is often labeled as a superhero whose power equals “a million exploding suns.” Sentry, or Robert Reynolds, debuted in Marvel Comics’ Sentry #1 in 2000.

With the insider’s revelation, it is safe to assume that he is talking about the live-action Superman level of power, not the one in the comics.

Who’s Going To Play Sentry In Thunderbolts*?

While everyone must be excited about the upcoming Thunderbolts* film, actor Steven Yeun delivered the sad news that he’s dropping from the project due to the strike that affected many Hollywood movies. He was poised to play Sentry. In an interview with Variety, he stated:

I think for me, time passing and things shifting kind of pulled me out of it. But Jake [Schreier], I know, is going to do an incredible job.

His casting was first reported in February 2023 although there was no official announcement from the studio. Yeun said it took a lot of email drafts to tell how he really felt about backing out of the movie.

Marvel is reportedly settling with Lewis Pullman to play Robert Reynolds/Sentry. The Top Gun: Maverick star has talked about what would it be like to get involved in the franchise though he kept on dodging questions about Sentry.

Fans will surely have high expectations for the actor who’s going to officially portray Sentry on the big screen. After all, he’s supposed to be as powerful as the ever-iconic Superman.

Thunderbolts* will arrive in theaters on May 5, 2025.
